At 09:52hrs. Frederick County ECC dispatched ET114, Brush 116 and ATV24 to the area of Castle Rock Rd. and the Monocacy River for a report brush fire in the woods. ET114 and ATV24 arrived on scene of the caller who lives on Castle Rock Rd. who reported smoke coming form the river and also said it was far down a trail. C11 established Castle Rock Rd. command. Using a bike path and gaining access of Monocacy Blvd. brush 116 was able to gain access to the dirt trail. Using ATV 24 we were able to use the dirt trail and gain access to the location of the smoke. C11 advised that it was about 500-600ft off the bike path down along the river. A large Oak tree stump and brush had caught fire due to a recent outside fire from last night that was not extinguished correctly. Using ATV and the equipment off of ET114 and B116, the crews were able to use submersible pumps and portable generator to pump water out of the river to extinguish the fire. At12:30 the fire was out and units went in service.
